“Kids Preach contains worship outlines meant for the whole church,” says Mrs Julie Weslake, director of Children’s Ministries in the SPD. “We want to support children by including them in ministry and encouraging them to use their gifts.”
According to Mrs Weslake, the knowledge that they belong and their gifts are valued is important for the children’s spiritual development.
Titled Kids Preach, the book contains six worship outlines written by Amanda Bews from the Castle Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church in Australia and one by Stephen and Leanne Davies from the Papatoetoe Adventist Church in New Zealand.
The outlines contain suggestions for the whole church’s worship service including running sheets, music, sermonettes, reader’s theatres and dramas. Topics range from spiritual growth, worship, evangelism and building rock solid faith. There is even artwork for practical giveaways on each topic, so that the congregation can leave with something to reinforce the message of the sermon.

“Kids Preach is a response to the request for children to be more involved at church,” says Mrs Weslake. “I hope to see churches using this book and allowing children to preach to the church at least once every three months.”
According to Jenny Boyd from the Riverland Adventist Church who has used one of the sermons, the outlines are “easy to implement and adjust to our church. It did not require many resources and is a valuable addition to the worship and evangelism of our corporate experience. The sermon had a huge impact and the message was really appreciated.”
There are plans to produce a second Kids Preach book and Mrs Weslake is encouraging churches to contribute to it by sending their own kids’ sermons. “We would love to publish the many good sermons that have been written,” she says.
